I wish I could make videos to songs. I heard a song (Battlefield by Jordin Sparks) that made me think of a few couples I ship in Firefly (River/Jayne, Mal/Inara), but I just don't have the talent (or software, or a good enough computer) to do a video. I can almost see the video in my mind when I hear the song, and it's so frustrating that I can't do it! Then I figured that since I can't make it I'd see if anyone else had made one for that song, and I can't find anything. Oh well. Maybe in a few weeks.

I finally had my son! Cameron Allen was born Oct. 13 at 7:14 am after only 5 hours of labor. I was only pushing for about 20 minutes. With Mikaela I was in labor for 10 hours, and pushing for about 2 hours. I was very happy that things didn't go on that long with Cameron. :)

Mikaela loves having Cameron around. (She's 3 now. Wow, how time flies!) She tells everyone that she's a big sister now. It's so cute. :)

I've recently gotten into Being Human. As with everything I like, I tend to make icons. Here are some that I made today. I'm a little rusty, having been without my computer for so long, but I think they came out well.

Good news: I now have a computer again. Bad news: The desktop I have is around 6 years old. I am thankful to have good internet access again, though. I need to get around to downloading a few more essential programs (gimp, and open office, off the top of my head). I'll have a fairly ok computer once I update the ram and graphics card (256 mb is NOT acceptable, nor is an ancient 64 mb intel integrated graphics card).

I went to Canada again fro my brother-in-law's wedding on Saturday. We went with friends this time, and we didn't get all that lost, so it was a vast improvement from the first trip! Mikaela was a bit of a terror, but other than that, things went well. She was the flower girl, ad she looked adorable in her dress.

We still don't own a charger for our laptop (we're borrowing one from our friends on occasion), so I don't know how much I'll be on.

Well, off to an appointment.

I guess the problem with my laptop is that the charger is dead. $80 is much easier to come up with than the money for a new laptop, though. :)

I wanted to post a quick entry to say I won't be doing much posting. My macbook is dying. The charger is messed up. It recently took a fall from my bookcase. I'm using my cell for internet. The browser has character limits, making comments & posts hard.

I made some textures and wanted to see how they would change a picture, so I made icons with them. These are the textures:

I had never made texture of my own before, but I figured I'd give it a try. I like how they came out. :)

I fiddled with the layer modes and added a different text brush to each one, and a different texture.

I put the pictures under separate cuts to save space. :)

If anyone wants to use the icons, please credit me. Feel free to use the textures as well, I don't care about being specifically credited. I know how hard it can be to keep track of who's work I have used, but I do try to make it known what I made. Since I'm starting to ramble, I'll just leave it there. :)

BOY! I had my 20 week sonogram today. They were able to tell the gender right off. Gary and I were very happy.

A little update to the frustration of yesterday. Gary talked to the dean and he basically said "It's his (the teacher's) classroom." Apparently that means teachers can do whatever the frak they want, regardless of the consequences or the personal lives of the students! I guess Gary needs to look for a job now. I already knew the administration of that school would have been better handled by monkeys, but now I think that's giving them too much credit. How about rocks? They'd be great. They'd still sit there and do nothing, like these brain-fried idiots. Nothing would get done, but at least we could thake hammers to them when we'd had enough of the incompetence!

Well, today was rather interesting. My husband, Gary, is going to a tech school for automotive repair. He has a class from 1:00 to 5:00 in the garage to do his hands-on assignments and to repair cars if he has the time. He's working on a friend's car today, and he had to take one of the axles off. Near the end of class his useless idiot polite, never rude, totally reasonable and always understanding teacher told him to put a tire on the car and move it out to make room for another car (Or whatever he wanted that particular spot for). Gary did so, and it was a bit past 5:00 when he finished. Then his teacher told him to clean up the garage. When Gary explained that he had to leave, sine he had to go get our daughter from daycare, he said something to the effect of "Clean this up, or you won't be working in this garage anymore." Gary left. What right does he have to require Gary to stay later, and then basically kick him out of school? This isn't his garage! It belongs to the school. He might have say over what goes on there, being the senior instructor, but I don't believe Gary when he says that this frakker has the final say over who is allowed to work there! There's like 2 weeks left in the semester, and Gary would be starting his 2nd year, and have a different teacher in the fall. This makes no sense to me! I can barely think straight, I'm so angry! The thing is, his teacher was probably just being lazy, and didn't want to clean up something that wouldn't have been a mess if he'd just left Gary alone! ARGH!


Edit: Apparently what the teacher wanted was for Gary to take the car off a lift,even though it would have been unsafe, and could have seriously damaged the suspension of the car to do it the way the teacher wanted. Gary found a way to do it, and then the teacher wanted him to clean up the stuff they use to keep liquids from getting on the floor.

Edit 2: Apparently the teacher had to keep kicking the tire as Gary was driving it off the lift to make sure it wouldn't fall off!

I've been meaning to make some R/J icons. Since I was bored out of my skull today, I thought "Why not?" So here they are. Also, please don't jump down my throat for my personal tastes, thanks. Sorry, but my husband doesn't really think it's appropriate to like the pairing, so I'm a little annoyed. Good thing he doesn't have a LJ! :)











I haven't done much in the way of combining photos. It's the same base for all three icons, since my eyes and head were starting to hurt after doing this one. Does it look okay?

I got a bit of a shock today. I was realy sick last night, like throwing up and everything. I couldn't keep anything down. Gary took me to the hospital ER after we dropped Mikaela off at day care. Turns out I was dehydrated, which made total sense to me since I'd spent more time in the bathroom than in bed. I also have a bit of a stomach flu.

Then the doctor started asking me when I'd last had my period because the routine pregnancy test came back positive. I'm pregnant!!
We are very happy about it since we've been trying for a while now.

Now if only I didn't feel like I'd been run into the ground.

I'm sitting here watching the marathon, and I was struck by how important Hera is. It's interesting that nobody is saying anything about her, though. Given the spoilers I understand the focus being in the final reveal, but I hadn't realized just how little her destiny is discussed.

I had a thought about Caprica 6. Basically it consisted of her trying to manipulate God's will by the results of her fling with Tigh.

In other news: YAY! BSG's back tonight!
