Ok, so (Gary, Mikaela, my mother-in-law and) I was in Canada visiting my brother-in-law (Jared) and his girlfriend (Sarah) (at her parents' house) over the weekend. Once we got to her parents' house everything went great. There was one major problem though. It was called Quebec! I live in Maine, so the easiest way to get to Ottawa (where Sarah lives) is to go through the western border through Quebec. Quebec doesn't really like English speaking people all that much, so virtually nobody in the whole frakking province speaks English. Normally I wouldn't care about that, but when you're lost it's really frustrating. On the way to Ottawa we missed a road or soemthing somewhere and had a very difficult time figuring out where to go. We finally found one person who spoke a decent amount of English to help us (that, and three very expensive maps!). On the way back however, we went a whole hour out of the way before we realized we were lost in this very small town in the middle of nowhere! Apparently there are a total of two people in Quebec who speak English (At least that we could find!) The first was on the way over. The second was on the way back. The person at the gas station was kind enough to actually call this guy and he came over from his house to help us (Thank the Lord!). He told us where to go and even led us to the road we were supposed to get back on to to get where we needed to be. That was very nice of him. We thanked him profusely before we left. We had been driving in a loop for a half an hour before this guy came along, so we were very grateful for his assistance. The problem was that we had driven an hour out of the way, so we were actually two hours away from the border. And you know what else made everything all the more frustrating? We were 5 MILES from the FRAKKING Maine border when we went out of the way!!! Oh, ARGH! Needless to say, we were so beyond glad to be back in the USA!
On an up note, I got a bunch of pics (on my phone so they're not that great, but they work). Also, Mikaela was so SO good both on the way over and back. She didn't fuss unless she needed food or her diaper changed, so that was good too.
Ok, I am sorry for all the parentheses and rambling. If you'll note the time this is posted You might assume (correctly) that I am tired. I didn't want to think (or edit) too much, so the stuff in parentheses were added as I remembered more. There is no excuse for the rambling, but I'm not going to apologize, so there! (jk). If I offended any Canadians (especially those from Quebec) I'm sorry, that wasn't my intention. Canada is very pretty. Very well landscaped from what I saw as well. I just want to fly the next time I visit, that's all!
Anyway, I just wish Craig would hurry up and get to Tricia so I can go to bed!
Oh, and BSG was AWESOME!!!! this week. It sucks that they aren't airing anything this week.Nothing good anyway!
